Edscha manufactures body components, powered systems, and driver controls for automakers and motor vehicle manufacturers in North America and internationally. Its body components include hinge systems, door hinges, door hinges with integrated door checks, lid and flap hinges, door checks, and sliding door systems; powered systems include rear lids and lift gates; and driver controls include handbrakes, foot-operated parking brakes, and foot controls. The company was founded in 1870 and is based in Remscheid, Germany. It has locations in Remscheid, Germany; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and Auburn Hills, MI.

The Mechatronics System engineer would be responsible to support engineering and production needs through system integration, electronic testing and perform required processes in an efficient and in a cost conscious manner. Experience using LabView and Allan Bradley controls is essential to success in this role!

  • Performs all required maintenance of automation programs and make changes as needed;
  • Aids in the development of the continuous improvement of machine sequence through automation;
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems using electrical schematics, programs, and multimeters
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work from initiation of design through production along with follow-up and support.
  • Consult with customers, supplier and other departments, as needed
  • Develop off-line PLC, Safety PLC & PLS programming
  • Conduct controls troubleshooting during production, to meet the needs of the shop.
  • Provide guidance to technicians and operators; and direct the execution of multiple projects simultaneously

Job Requirements

• BS/MS in electrical or mechanical engineering and 5+ years’ experience, preferred.

• Lab View programming experience required

• Vision inspection system, new installation, and support experience (Keyence and Cognex)

• Poke yoke development and machine launch experience
