Job Summary

Responsible for Environmental Health & Safety in the plant to ensure compliance to OSHA & corporate standards.  Directly and personally plans, implements and maintains EHS tasks.  Completes audits in plants to ensure compliance.  Serves as EH & S expert for the plant and provides direction to plant leadership.  Ensures training of all plant employees related to EH & S regulations.  Directly coordinates training and personally conducts applicable training.  Compiles and submits required OSHA accident reports.  Controls workers compensation costs through accident and lost time injuries reduction.  Personally manages workers compensation cases as directed by the EHS Manager.  Ensure all environmental permitting is current and accurate.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the corporate and plant safety programs as directed by the site EHS Manager.

  • Establish safety procedures for critical processes (LOTO, overhead cranes, powered industrial vehicles, contractor safety, etc.) and all other manufacturing process.

  • Coordinate and track progress of government regulations compliance.  Ensures OSHA compliance.

  • Responsible for employee safety training.

  • Change agent for improving safety culture at the plants.

  • Write/keep up-to-date manuals, procedures and policies for safety functions for all locations.

  • Direct plant safety teams.

  • Work with manufacturing on engineering and plant layout changes.

  • Identify and remedy environmental issues.

  • Continuously ensure plant complies with environmental requirements.

  • Completes periodic reporting for EHS.

  • Works to improve division EHS safety index score.

Education and Experience

  • University Degree in related field preferred or accomplished training in EH & S/OSHA.

  • At least 5 years EHS leadership in a manufacturing facility.

  • Five to ten year's safety experience; workers compensation loss control.
